Less than 2 months after returning home from overseas, it happened!
John and I took a couples trip to Houston with two of our really good friends, Kevin and Ally to go see one of our favorite artist.
John had introduced me to Bob Schneider before I left to go overseas, and he was a staple on the playlist that I kept on replay. So you better believe that I was elated when John told me we were going to see him in concert. I was even happier when I found out we were going to both of the back to back shows he was playing.
As we took our seats at this tiny little place called “The Mucky Duck,” I remember leaning over and whispering to John, “I hope he plays my song.” So for those of you that aren’t familiar with Bob Schneider’s music, let fill you in. He is, for the most part, a one man band/singer songwriter. He has written some really great songs and some really raunchy songs, and he is kind of a jerk. He starts off his shows with his set list and then takes request towards the end, but he always concludes the show with a unique rendition of his song “Batman.”
After he finished his first show, we all walked outside to get some fresh air before the 2nd show began. It was cold outside, so I snuggled up to John. When I reached my hands into his jacket pockets, I discovered something that I wasn’t expecting. A ring box! With a hint of laughter and a huge smile I made the comment, “I found the ring, so you have to do it now!” He chuckled a little and I turned around to talk to Ally. Then, I heard a lady scream, “Oh my gosh, he’s doing it.” I whipped around just in time to see John drop to one knee, and he asked me to share the rest of my life with him.

I , obviously, said yes, and we hurried back inside to catch the second show. As we returned to our seats, I recognized the tune that was coming from Bob’s guitar. Peaches! At that moment John began to sing the words to me. “I love you like peaches. You’re as sweet as can be….I’ll love you like forever….I love you like peaches.”
From that moment forward, love you like peaches became our saying.
THE END…
