Today was one of the hardest days I’ve had in a really long time. Julia woke me up with the news that she didn’t feel good and had thrown up. I got her settled back in bed just in time for Truitt to inform me she was in need of her breakfast.
After feeding Truitt I headed to the kitchen to make my FIRST cup of coffee. Just as the beautiful aroma of espresso hit my nose, I heard Jettie and the twins’ door slowly open.
“Is it morning time?”
I peaked around the corner and motioned for them to come out. As I took a sip of my coffee, Erin Layne ran up to me and embraced my legs.
“Mommy my tummy hurts.”
I thought to myself “NOT TODAY SATAN” and took another long sip of coffee. As of 9 A.M. I had changed 7 poop filled diapers, a set of bedding, and two sets of clothes.
By the time lunch rolled around, the poopy diaper count had doubled. With the twins not feeling good, I just knew it was going to be a good nap day.
WRONG!
No one wanted to nap. I could feel my patience wearing thin, and I needed to get out of the house. Luckily I had a Walmart order to pick up. Usually a ride in the big ole van is just what the crew needs to chill out. We made it to town and picked up our order, but as I turned out of the parking lot I heard Erin scream; then I smelled it. I quickly pulled over. She was covered in vomit.
“I spit up Mommy.” “Girl you did a little more than spit up!”
Fast forward an hour. We made it back home. I unloaded the van, put groceries away, gave Erin a bath, fed the kids a tummy friendly dinner, cleaned up the kitchen, and disinfected the backseat.
***FYI***I DESPISE CLEANING CAR SEATS!
Five more poop filled diapers and FINALLY…bed time. But the quietness was short lived.
“MOMMY! Bubba spit up!”
Maybe I should do a better job differentiating” spitting up” and “throwing up.”
After 15 long hours, 2 sets of sheets, 19 poop filled diapers, and 3 rounds of throw up everyone is sleeping soundly.
Today was one of the hardest days I’ve had in a long time!
THE END.
