Pictures vs. Poop

The twins are almost 6 months old and we don’t have a single family photograph. John and I work opposite shifts, so it is a rare occasion for all of us to be together. Since John recently purchased new camera, we decided it would be a great time to attempt a family photo shoot. Now in my mind, this sounded like a fabulous idea, in reality not so much.

Let me give you a little insight into the personalities that make up our Forrest household. Timothy is the baby, even if it is only by 6 minutes. He is my little happy camper 99% of the time, but good golly you better be ready for that 1% when he’s not. Erin is my little attention seeker. She purposefully wakes up when everyone else is asleep so that she can have us all to herself. Jettie Ruth is a real life sour patch kid. She can do something that makes you want to beat her one minute and in that same minute be so incredibly sweet. She doesn’t want the attention, but she requires it. That is unless you like a sharpie covered walls and bedding stained with nail polish. Julia is our oldest. She has a huge heart just like her daddy and we couldn’t have hand picked a better big sister.

John had taken off work for the weekend, so we decided to head to the local park to snap a few pictures of the family. John and I have decided to be growups and actually send out Christmas cards this year! So Saturday rolls around. We get everyone bathed and dressed. But, somewhere in the midst of John loading the car, Julia feeding a twin and me finishing my makeup, Jettie disappeared. The absence of noise immediately triggered an “oh poop” moment. I mean that very literally. When Jettie’s quiet it means there is poop involved.  I began looking for Jettie and quickly found her doing exactly what I was afraid of. She was sitting in her closet covered in poop. Her adorable little dress had poop all over it. John bathed her and I searched for another outfit that would go with the color scheme. Nothing. We decided to head to the park and stop at a couple of stores on the way to try and find an outfit that would work. By the time I came out of the second store John and Julia were hungry, and Jettie and the twins were screaming. We decided that while we made a valiant effort, we would opt to go have a late lunch and try a photo shoot the next morning.

The next morning we left the house by 11, and after two long, hot hours we were able to capture some great shots. (Check them out at https://www.johnforrestphotos.com) Photography and videography are John’s newest adventure, so if you need some amazing pictures or a video to capture a special moment he’s your guy.

One thing that having Jettie and the twins has taught me is that sometimes you have to just wing it. And while it might have taken two days, the pictures won in their battle with poop!

THE END.
