Summer was almost over, so we decided to have one last family getaway before school started back. Something that was not too far away. Something that would be entertaining to a 10 year old, a 1 1/2 year old, and easy to do with 4 month old twins. I mean if you can call anything that has to do with the twins easy. John and I talked about what we could do. We thought about camping, but then I realized how dumb that idea was. So John booked a room for a couple of nights at the Gaylord Texan.
We headed up Tuesday when we got off work, and arrived at the Gaylord around 8:30. Everyone was starving when we pulled up, so we unloaded everything and checked in as quickly as possible. We carried everything up in one trip. Four bags, a laundry basket full of clothes, 3 different sizes of diapers, my pump, bottles, a stroller with 2 babies, a Jettie, and Julia. All of that and John and I managed to make it to the 9th floor without losing any children along the way.
We decided to grab dinner at the hotel out of shear convenience. There was a waterfall at the restaurant and it took all I had to keep Jettie from dipping her head in it to wash her hair. Ok, maybe she dipped her head in it once! Right now she is obsessed with washing her hair. We finished eating and gathered up all of our children to head to the room so we could get a good night’s rest. We were going to get up bright and early and enjoy a day at the water park. I managed to get everyone changed and ready for bed. Jettie was going to sleep with Julia, and we had a crib brought up for the twins. I am still not sure what part of me actually thought all of us sleeping in one room was a good idea, and Jettie having the ability to roam free in the middle of the night scared me. I got Jettie to lay down, FINALLY, and then Erin started to cry which cause Jettie to start crying. After a few minutes I got Jettie calmed down and she fell asleep in my arms. I maneuvered my way out of the bed, careful not to wake her. She is an extremely light sleeper. John was able to get Erin asleep and put her in the crib next to Timothy. We did it! All of the kids were asleep. I crawled into bed, and closed my eyes. I was almost asleep when Erin started to peep. Her peeps quickly turned to cries and cries to screams. She is teething so she screamed on and off all night long. All I could think was please don’t wake up Jettie or your brother. I wasn’t worried about Julia. She could sleep through a hurricane.
Around 8 the next morning we woke up to start getting ready to go to the water park. We left the hotel around 11:00. I’m not going to lie, I was a little bit nervous about taking all of the kids to the water park. Would it even be any fun since the twins were so little? Let me tell you, it was fantastic! I highly recommend the Gaylord Texan to anyone that has kids and wants an easy summer getaway. Julia, who is 10, loved it,

and Jettie, who will be 2 in November, loved it.

It wasn’t crowded and there was plenty of shade to keep the twins cool and comfortable.
Bed time was better the 2nd night. Everyone was exhausted from their fun filled day spent in the water and full from a steak dinner.

Even the twins slept a 5 hour stretch! #winning The next morning we got up and went to the water park for a few hours before grabbing lunch and doing a little shopping. I love to watch people’s facial expressions while we are out. Most of the time it is a baffeled look like “Did y’all do that on purpose?” Sometimes people even work up the nerve to ask us! We had a smooth ride home, got the car unloaded, and were in bed just in time for me to get about 4 hours of sleep before the dreaded alarm clock would be waking me up for work. #coffee
THE END.
